Endearing Passion
I’ve always loved flowers dearly. Back when L’amour was still a small flower shop nestled in the misty highlands, I found my way there and became one of those “lovely regular customers” from the very beginning. When you love flowers, you’ll always be drawn to wherever flowers are.
I was working in Saigon at the time, but I’d visit the shop whenever I had the chance. I used to joke, “I love Da Lat so much, my mom found me a husband from Da Lat.”
And then L’amour came to Saigon. Of course, I couldn’t miss the grand opening—I joined the floral design classes right away. L’amour often plays soft French music, but sometimes they’d dust off the old reel-to-reel tape player and let those vintage tunes echo through the room: *“Tình nồng thắm xuyên qua bao mái tranh…”* Because the tapes only held a few songs, each one felt special—almost like the singer herself was there, performing just for us.
Time flew by. I completed the course and found the courage to leave a job many dreamed of, just to follow my dream of working with flowers. And just like that, a charming new flower shop blossomed in the heart of Saigon. A gentle melody rose amidst the city’s heat and traffic noise—offering a brief, quiet escape for those walking by.
Even now, when I miss it, I still drop by L’amour. And every time I do, he walks over to the reel player, and the tune *“Tình nồng thắm”* plays once more—bringing both of us back to that serene, familiar feeling that has always been part of L’amour.
